Free, Unlimited In-App Wallets - Why now?

Yesterday, we announced a limited-time offer of unlimited in-app wallets for developers. By claiming the offer, developers are able to create e-mail, phone number, passkey, and social wallets using our Connect SDK for free over the next 12 months.

We've taken the industry price of wallets, ($0.03 - $0.05/active user), and moved it down to $0 because we believe now is the perfect time to remove all the friction for developers to build web3 apps & games that people love.

Why now?

First, the cost and time of transactions have gone down significantly due to the propagation of L2 & L3 networks. This means that games & apps can finally use web3 as a backend without worrying about performance.

Second, with the advancements in AA infra & in-app wallets, we've seen studio like Infinigod and Mightybear, onboard tens and thousands of real players into their games by fully abstracting away the clunky blockchain experience of needing gas & signing transactions.

Here's how it works: 1. Users create an in-app wallet using Apple or Telegram login. 2. As soon as they create a wallet, they a get a Smart Account created for them. 3. The smart account delegates a Session Key that enables the developer's backend wallet to execute transactions on their behalf using our Engine servers.

Creating a gasless, signless UX with AA + Wallets

Now, when players are inside the game, whether they are trading assets or PVPing with other players, events can happen on chain without players needing to find gas tokens or signing pop-ups. If you are interested in learning more, we've got a guide here.

I'm personally really excited about the future of web3. It finally feels like the advancements in infra, chains, and tools are converging to a point where the limitation for what people can build is no longer on the technology.

Now, we bet on the creativity of human beings, and by reducing the costs to start to zero, I think we'll seed some pretty cool applications.

Onwards!
