Accelerating the Superchain with Optimism
Today, we’re excited to announce our landmark partnership with Optimism. Together, we’re launching the Superchain App Accelerator — a $3M fund for Superchain developers to build seamless onchain apps.
To bring the next billion users onchain, consumer apps must abstract away gas fees & blockchain complexity from users — providing them with seamless onboarding & UX. This has already led to a number of breakout consumer crypto apps across industries like digital collectibles, gaming, & social media.
But even with major upgrades coming to Ethereum — such as the 10-100x gas fee reductions coming to Layer 2s from EIP-4844 — building an app with best-in-class onchain UX can be costly for developers if they subsidize users’ transactions.
We’re excited to partner with Optimism to bring the costs of building & using onchain apps to zero — supercharging the next generation of consumer crypto together.
Introducing the Superchain App Accelerator
The Superchain App Accelerator offers grants to Superchain developers so that they can build apps with seamless end-user experiences — now available on the following networks:

How does the program work?
Today, we’re launching this program by offering $450,000 worth of gas credits to developers for paymaster usage on any Superchain network.
We believe that a key catalyst for onchain adoption is to abstract away gas fees & blockchain complexity from users — providing them with seamless onboarding & user experiences.
Therefore, we're launching the first phase of the Superchain App Accelerator with paymaster credits — so that developers can offset their users' transaction costs via smart accounts.
We will grant these credits to approved builders in the following 3 segments:
We will roll out the rest of the credits in the program throughout the year — distributed amongst the following activities for Superchain builders:
- Paymaster usage (Now live): Use gas credits to subsidize users’ transactions on your app with smart accounts — so they can sign up with just an email or social account, and get the best UX with no transaction popups, gas fees, or external wallets.
- Dashboard (Coming soon): Use gas credits on the thirdweb Dashboard to deploy smart contracts, mint NFTs, and perform onchain actions so you can build your app at zero cost.
- Full thirdweb stack (Coming soon): Put your credits towards usage of any product in thirdweb’s stack, including:
- In-app wallets
- Account abstraction
- Engine
- RPCs
- IPFS storage
